There is lots of nice things that you could do in summer. Next to a relaxing (hot) day at the beach or at the park, you could also pick a museum to find out what is out there and drown yourself into art, culture and lifestyle. Today we made a selection of our favorite Museums…
One. TENT is a creative platform for 100% contemporary art. The platform connects the art of the city to what happens in the outside world around. The exhibition space is housed in a monumental, former school building at the Witte de Withstraat, Rotterdam’s famous street of culture. Because of the diverse programme, TENT addresses relevant developments in contemporary art, whereby special attention is given to topical themes. A visit to TENT is a true introduction to the current state of affairs in Rotterdam’s art.
TENT is located on the ground floor of Witte de With Straat 50, 3012 BR Rotterdam. Click here for the latest TENT-agenda.
Two. The Mode Museum Antwerpen (MoMu) is set in the ModeNatie in the Nationalestraat of Antwerp. ModeNatie accommodates several partners: the Fashion Museum, the Flanders Fashion Institute and the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen.
From the beginning MoMu has opted for a dynamic approach that exceeds the static character of the average museum. No fixed arrangement of the own collection but varying thematic exhibitions on one specific designer or a fashion-related subject, that shows a selection of pieces from the collection alongside pieces on loan. The starting point for each new exhibition is an overall concept, focussing not only on clothing but on an entire context: the designer’s sources of inspiration, links with other art disciplines and so on. No static glass cases, but a dynamic room that is tailored to the needs of each exhibition. This vitality is the very strength of the Antwerp Fashion Museum. Curious? Visit the website to see what MoMu is currently presenting.
Three. The Centraal Museum Utrecht is the oldest municipal museum of the Netherlands. It started back in 1830 with only four rooms on the top floor of the Utrecht city hall. The museum officially opened to the public on 5 September 1838. People could visit the museum every Wednesday afternoon for € 0,25. Nowadays the museum is an open house in which visitors are able to explore and discover everyday. From Scorel to Bruna to Viktor & Rolf. From Rietveld to the Utrecht Caravaggists and from Bloemaert to Marlene Dumas. Classical alongside modern, design alongside Utrecht’s history, experimental alongside monumental. It is a museum that will leave you inspired time after time… Where you may expect the unexpected. Click here for the complete 2013 program.
Have a nice (summer) weekend!

Although it is a little cloudy, summer feelings are still there… In Haarlem they are responding to this by hosting Parksessies, a relaxing summer picnic with music, art and theatre. For four Wednesday evenings in July and August the city park, Haarlemmerhout will be transformed into a summer picnic paradise filled with various artists, theatre makers and musicians.
The sessions are being hosted by Joshua Baumgarten, also known as Mr. Weird Beard. This born American is one of the most important initiators of Rock ‘n’ Roll culture in Haarlem. Next to his own collective Irrational Libraryalready, Mr. Weird also owns a cool vintage store together with his wife Mara. The shop is located in the Doelstraat in Haarlem, where they regularly hosts fantastic instore-concerts, as you can find a healthy dose of art, cool kitch and instant coffee.
Our Friends from Picknick Rotterdam take care of a picnic-dinner as the Parkbar is the place to go for an ice cold drink… Think of nice Vedett beers, organic wines of the Grapedistrict and homemade lemonades. Last but not least there’s also Victor’s mobile espresso bar.
Do you have a Wednesday off, or like to relax after a busy day at work? Come sit down and drown yourself into the new picnic-style at the Haarlemmerhout park in Haarlem on July 24, July 31 and August 7… Entrance is for free, see you there!

One. Despicable Me 2 is a 2013 American 3D computer animated adventure comedy and the sequel to the 2010 animated film Despicable Me… Get ready for more minion madness. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team created an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions and a lot of new and outrageously funny characters. This time, the ever-entrepreneurial Gru has left behind a life of super-crime to raise his girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes. Meanwhile Gru, Dr. Nefario and the Minions have some free time on their hands. But just as he starts to adjust to his role as a suburban family man, an ultra-secret organization dedicated to fighting evil around the globe comes knocking…
Two. Four magicians, who go by the name ‘Four Horseman’ -big time stage illusionists- climax their sold out Las Vegas show with a bank apparently robbed for real afterwards! This puts agents Dylan Rhodes of the FBI and Alma Vargas of Interpol on the case to find out how these four people did it. What follows is a bizarre investigation in which dark secrets and hidden agendas seem everywhere as all involved are reminded of a great truth in this puzzle: the closer you look, the less you see… Find the truth in Now You See Me.
Three. In Man Of Steel a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and that he is not coming from planet Earth. Growing up, he travels to discover where he comes from and what he was sent here to do. Only the hero in him must emerge if he is able to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. It is such a tasteful story… We never stopped loving Superman!
Four. Only God Forgives is a 2013 French-Danish co-production crime thriller. The film tells the story of an American drug smuggler in Thailand who is ordered by his mother to revenge his brother’s death. Step into an emotionally breathtaking, brilliant and immensely violent thriller that is set amongst a number of US expats in Bangkok.
Five. I, Anna is a highly stylized modern film-noir love story set in a grimly, bleak London. I, Anna follows the intersecting lives of an aging woman trying to pick up the threads after a painful divorce and an impossibly sensitive police commissioner tracking a murder case. Loneliness and alienation are the main themes scratched out by penetrating performances from the leads Charlotte Rampling and Gabriel Byrne. I, Anna is playing in several cult-movie theaters.
